Capoeira
Capoeira is a unique Brazilian martial art, originally practices by African slaves imported to Brazil by Portuguese colonisers. In their fight for freedom, the slaves cunningly used music and dance to disguise the practice fatal self-defence moves, which they would use to fight their captors. Today Capoeira is popular Brazilian culture and one that never ceases to amaze audiences with its agile moves, graceful acrobatics and energetic rhythms.

Lambada 
The dance that drove the world crazy is the 1980’s is still a hot number today! Lambada is a sensual dance which has become a well known trademark of Brazil.

Brazilian Afro 
A mesmerising production that explores Brazil’s African heritage. This dance portrays an the Afro-Brazilian mythical ceremonial and religious rites that gave rise to the music and rhythm of modern Brazil.

Samba Batucada 
The Batucada is a high-energy drumming performance and the backbone of the Carnaval Parades in Rio de Janeiro. It contains authentic Brazilian instruments and glamorous samba dancers, demonstrating their unique samba styles.

Mini Carnaval
Spectacular Rio Carnaval with spectacular samba dancers parading their vibrant feather consumes before demonstrating carnival samba. This is a fantastic opportunity for audience members to join in and have fun!

Axé
Axé is a popular carnaval dance in Salvador, Bahia. It is a reflection of the lively and colourful culture of the northeast of Brazil.

Maculelê
Maculelê is a dance performed to the rhythm of the atabaque drum. It originated as a dance which celebrated a good harvest in the sugar cane plantations but is also performed as a form of mock-combat. During the dance the performers strike wooden rods against each other following to the beat of the drum, even though originally maculelê was performed with knives or machetes.

Atabaque solo
The atabaque is a wooden afro-brazilian drum covered in calfskin. It is a sacred instrument in the afrobrazilian religion of Candomblé and also used in Capoeira and maculelê. The sound of the atabaque is therefore a also a trademark of afro-brazilian culture.

Berimbau Solo
Let the hypnotising sound of this intriguing bow-like instrument take you back to colonial Brazil where African slaves used the Berimbau as a secret communicative code. Amongst other things, different ‘toques’ of the Berimbau indicated the arrival of police and called for a cease of illegal Capoeira practice until the authorities departed.

Batucada
